Understanding LDPE Liners

LDPE stands for Low Density Polyethylene. So speaking practically, it is a flexible plastic material that can bend, fold, and even adjust without cracking apart or tearing easily. LDPE liners are made using this material and they are placed inside the outer packaging so as to create a protective inner layer.

LDPE liners support the packaging system as a whole rather than just holding the product. They separate the product from the outer surface, which is most liable to be exposed to dust, moisture, or rough handling and this simple separation often makes the difference between safe delivery and damaged goods.

Why LDPE Is Commonly Used for Liners

The packaging industry works with a wide range of products, and hardly a few of them behave the same way. While some products flow easily, some clump, some react to moisture, and others are sensitive to contamination. LDPE works well in most of these situations as it is flexible.

LDPE liners do not fight the shape of the container; but they settle into corners, adjust to pressure, and expand when required. This quality of theirs makes them suitable for packaging where precision is difficult to maintain, especially in bulk-product handling environments.

LDPE liners are widely used as they provide resistance against moisture. As we know, warehouses are prone to moisture as they aren’t always climate controlled and even the transport conditions tend to change quickly. Hence, a liner that keeps moisture out can prevent spoilage, caking, or chemical degradation.
