Bhooth Bangla is here and Google knows it

Let’s be real the moment the Bhooth Bangla review started dropping online, half of India collectively abandoned their work meetings and started refreshing BookMyShow faster than you can say “Pareshji, bhoot aa gaya!” And honestly? Totally justified.

The largest Bollywood horror-comedy of the year was released to the theaters today, April 17, 2026 and the internet is doing what the internet does bestlosing its mind. Early estimates of the Day 1 collection of the film, the Bhoot Bangla, are already trickling in, and some initial numbers are showing that the film has started off on a robust opening, and fans are inundating BookMyShow trending search results to secure any available seat before Akshay Kumar gets them first.

Now we will speak of the man himself. The Akshay Kumar box office has gone through its highs and lows in the past few yearssome hits, some misses, some movies that made us think that he bets he would win.But this? This feels different. This is Akshay in his natural habitat running away from things, making faces, delivering punchlines with the precision of a man who wakes up at 4 AM just to be funnier than everyone else.

And can we please talk about Paresh Rawal comedy for a moment? The man walks on screen and your face automatically arranges itself into a smile. It’s biological. Scientists should study it. You cannot watch Paresh Rawal in a Priyadarshan film and not laughit’s physically impossible. Put it in the constitution.

Speaking of which, this is a Priyadarshan film 2026 which means it comes with a government guarantee of: one haunted building, seventeen cases of mistaken identity, at least four people hiding behind curtains, and everyone screaming at the wrong person for the right reason. The man has a formula and he is absolutely not sorry about it. We love him for it.

Tabu brings her signature “I know something you don’t know and I will not be telling you until the third act” energy. Rajpal Yadav trips over everything including the plot. Wamiqa Gabbi is doing her best surrounded by absolute chaos. It, in the best Bollywood horror comedy tradition, is gloriously unhinged.

In short, there is no doubt about the Bhooth Bangla review consensus: it is not Citizen Kane. It’s not trying to be. It is a huge, noisy, comedy of manners haunted house movie that desires you to spill popcorn, take the arm of your friend and walk home happy. And in that regard, it does not disappoint.

Keep an eye on Akshay Kumar box office collections this weekend since going by the opening day hype, the haunted palace could well be the most lucrative real estate in Bollywood at the moment.
