Introducing the Fitbit Air: Google’s Tiniest, Most Budget-Friendly Fitness Tracker to Date

Wearable technology has evolved significantly over the years, but many challenges still remain for some – devices tend to be too big, too complex, or even too pricey. Google’s new Fitbit aims to solve all of these problems with their new product: the Fitbit Air. It’s a light, screenless tracker that promises to deliver valuable insights about your well-being.
Small Yet Capable
The Fitbit Air is not only the most compact fitness device made by Google but also the company’s first-ever screenless tracker. Despite its small size and lack of display, the device features highly accurate sensors that allow for reliable 24/7 health monitoring. It tracks heart rate, heart rhythm (including Atrial fibrillation warnings), SpO2, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep stages and duration, etc.
Being screenless is a conscious decision made by Google, and it feels quite refreshing compared to most devices.Instead of being a source of distraction, the Fitbit Air lets you focus and be present. Whenever you need to dig deep into your health data, you have the opportunity to do so through the Google Health app.
Daytime Use & Nighttime Sleep
One of the greatest strengths of the Fitbit Air is how versatile it is for use during the day and while sleeping at night. The Fitbit Air has enough battery power to last you one full week of activities such as working out, playing at night, or getting adequate sleep. What makes this watch special is its slim and light design, which makes you forget that you’re wearing it, particularly when using it to track your sleeping patterns.
It is even possible to switch from your Pixel Watch in the daytime to the Fitbit Air while sleeping without missing a beat. For those situations where you require quick charging, fast charging provides enough battery for an entire day within five minutes.
Sleek Activity Tracking
The integration between the Fitbit Air and the Google Health app is flawless when it comes to activity tracking. You can initiate an exercise program through the app, complete a coached workout, or just begin your session without any prior notice and allow Fitbit Air to recognize and track your activities for you. Your movements will be recognized and tracked automatically, with accuracy improving with time, based on your own movement patterns. In addition, you can track your exercises manually, or take a picture of your equipment using the Google Health Coach app.
Style That Fits You
Not only is the Fitbit Air efficient, but its style is quite adaptable as well. The pebble can be easily removed, which allows you to change your wristband from one of three designs: the Performance Loop Band made from sustainable materials and featuring micro-adjustability and breathability; the Active Band with sweatproof/wetproof silicone ideal for high-intensity workouts; or the Elevated Modern Band that makes the Fitbit air a piece of jewelry.
And lastly, there is a limited edition that deserves a mention, namely, the Fitbit Air Special Edition designed jointly with Stephen Curry, whose design includes a water-resistant surface and raised interior print reminiscent of athletic racing stripes, providing increased airflow when in intense motion.
Pricing & Availability
FitBit Air comes in pre-orders starting at $99.99 and will offer a three-month free trial period of Google Health Premium which means that customers will have full access to Google Health Coach out of the box. Stephen Curry Special Edition is going to cost $129.99 and go on sale in the United States on May 26. Accessories bands will cost from $34.99.
Fitbit Air is a meaningful product aimed at helping people embrace technology for health in order to make it truly accessible to everyone regardless of fitness level and lifestyle.
